Alarm Responses & Building Searches:
Taught to Security Professionals specializing in alarm responses in which "clearing the call" requires searching the building at which a burglar alarm has been activated, this course focuses on reading the Alarm, Understanding Alarm Mechanics, Tactical Approach and Entry, Tools & Equipment, Tactical Night Operations and Flashlight Use, Tactical Movement inside the building, to include negotiating doorways, hallways and elevation-changing devises (stairs and elevators). 6 Hour Course including classroom, drills and a mock scene, the Course Fee is $99.
Field Contacts (Stop & Talks, Vehicle Stops, Knock & Talks) & Field Interviews:
This course picks up where Verbal Martial Arts (see below) left off, and implements the tactical aspects of "making contact" with a suspect in a way that ensures officer survival and the set-up to control a subject if he becomes a suspect. Also covered are the legal aspects of such encounters. Students start with basic "Stop & Talks", then graduate to vehicle stops (encounters with suspicious vehicles), then onto "Knock and Talks" where the suspect is inside his own home or apartment) and provides the student with the skills necessary to handle any Field Contact in a tactically and legally survivable way. This 6 hour course includes classroom and mock scenes application of the skills learned; Course Fee is $99.
Improvised Explosive Device-Recognition:
Taught to Security Professionals who regularly conduct Access-Control and/or whose client faces the potential of bomb threats, this course goes well beyond "bomb threats", and dissects modern Improvised Explosive Devices that the Professional is likely to encounter, from components (fuses, detonators, charge-types and primers) to proven tactics designed to minimize the threat in both buildings and vehicle-attached devices. The 3 hour Course Fee is $75.
Tactical Communications:
This course incorporates Dr Thompson's Verbal Judo course and combines it with the Multnomah County Mental Health Crisis Intervention platform and "The 3Ds (Dealing with Drunks, Druggies and Deranged/depressed), and is designed to provide students with realistic workable verbal skills necessary to gain the voluntary compliance of subjects encountered during the average Field Contact (see above). This 8 hour course is a must for anyone who deals with "rough customers", and the Course Fee is $200.
Legal Aspects of Contract-Security (Use of Force, Arrest & Detention, Search & Seizure):
This course empowers the Security Professional by imparting a solid foundation of legal knowledge specifically tailored to the Security Professional, and includes Criminal Law (Oregon and/or Washington), Criminal Procedure (Arrests, Detentions, Interview & Interrogations, Surveillance/Privacy and Search & seizure Law), along with a firm grasp of Legal Authority and even Landlord-Tenant and Employee-Employer Law, taught by an educated and experienced lawyer and law instructor. This 8 hour course includes classroom and mock scene application of the subjects taught, and the Course Fee is $150.
Report Writing:
This course turns the "security officer" into a bona fide Security Professional by imparting superb Report Writing skills in an easy- to-understand fashion, taught by an expert. The course is classroom based with mock scene applications of the skills learned. Course Fee for this comprehensive 9 hour course if $175.
Workplace Violence & Active Shooter Responses:
This course works with organizations to develop and teach meaningful responses to Workplace Violence, including but not limited to gun-violence, and includes environmental design, internal communications and using improvised weapons found in any office environment to counter a violent subject.
Medical Aspects (CPR/AED/BBP,1st Aid, Gunshot Wounds):
This course delivers the basic American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens in a way that has meaning for the Security Professional (and results in an ARC Certification), and also teaches the treatment of Traumatic Wounds (gunshots, knife wounds, etc.) likely to be encountered by the Security Professional. This 12 hour course includes classroom, hands-on applications and mock scenes. The Course Fee is $140 (or $90 for the ARC courses only).
